On June 11th, we are hosting a 1-hour virtual broadcast through CiscoTV. Join our Event on June 11th through CiscoTV by registering (https://www.cisco.vovici.com/se/2C85931E1D527498). We will hear true stories of those impacted by homelessness in our local community, especially during COVID-19. In response to these stories, we'll share steps Cisco RTP has taken and will continue to take in commitment to both nonprofits. Finally, there will be a Q&A with the Executive Director of Raleigh Rescue Mission, John Luckett, and Executive Director of Haven House, Michelle Zechmann. After tuning into the morning broadcast, we hope everyone will be moved and encouraged to sleep outside in solidarity of those experience homelessness in our local community. However, the safety and wellness of our Cisco family is paramount, and we ask everyone use discretion to make the best decision for themselves. At 9pm on that same day we will gather via Webex Event Center for a brief check-in to remind everybody about the meaning of this event. The following morning, we will do the same thing around 7:30am. We’d love to hear from you about your experience and provide next steps on ways to stay involved. In November 2019, Chuck highlighted Cisco's passion for helping the those experiencing homelessness through a partnership with Covenant House. Since then, a group of over 70 people in RTP have rallied around the mission to help those experiencing homelessness. In order to combine this passion with Bryan Stevenson’s concept of proximity, we have united to create a Night Outside event with the mission of connecting Cisco's culture of giving back to local communities in the Raleigh-Durham area. We have partnered with Raleigh Rescue Mission and Haven House to sleep outside in solidarity of those experiencing homelessness. Homelessness is increasing in Raleigh by 8% each year. Over 6,000 individuals experiencing homelessness are seeking services and more than 4,300 homeless children attend Wake County schools. Additionally, 100,000 individuals in poverty are at the risk of experiencing homelessness. Before we began practicing social distancing and staying at home, a night of speakers, give back activities, and sleeping outside was planned on RTP’s campus. Due to COVID-19, our nonprofit partners need support now more than ever. We are determined to get creative with technology and to come together to raise money for Raleigh Rescue Mission and Haven House. Have Questions? Feel free to email us at: rtpnightoutside@cisco.com
