On behalf of the 2023 rural interns, we are excited to announce the details for the 2023 food drive! Click below to watch a video with all of the details. How to donate: We are collecting non-perishable food items in our offices or you can make a monetary donation directly via Bright Funds. A fund has been created in Bright Funds for Feeding America, or you can donate to a local food pantry of your choice. If you aren’t near an office, but would still like to participate, items can be taken to a local food pantry. After donations have been made, send a photo of the items or the monetary donation receipt to your selected territory’s intern listed below. How scoring works: • 1 point = $1 (or one item) • Gift matching contributions via Bright Funds will not count toward the total, but employees with gift matching left for 2023 are encouraged to match their donation • If you are not officially assigned to a territory, you can select whichever one you’d like to support in the competition • Regardless of how you donate, send an email that includes the number of items or dollar amount you donated to the intern for the territory you wish to contribute to. Pictures are encouraged when possible. Make sure your email includes the amount donated, organization you donated to and which territory team you’re on. When to donate: You have until noon CT Friday, July 28 for it to count for the competition. Brave Space Alliance is a Chicago-based organization that was created to fill a gap in the organizing of and services to trans and gender-nonconforming people. Currently, very few LGBTQ social services or advocacy networks exist on the South and West Sides of Chicago. Furthermore, the few trans-specific resources in the city are located in majority-white neighborhoods on the North Side, which are inaccessible geographically, and also regularly result in the hyper-policing of trans people of color who attempt to access them.

This project aims to provide financial support to the elderly in India, as we know, India is home to a large population of elderly people who have worked hard all their lives to provide for their families and contribute to society. Unfortunately, many of them are now facing a difficult situation due to a lack of resources and support. Impact Guru starting a fundraising cause to help elderly people in India who are struggling to make ends meet. Our goal is to raise enough funds to provide them with basic necessities such as food, shelter, and healthcare. With your help, we can make a real difference in the lives of these vulnerable members of our society. Your donation will go directly towards providing essential support to those in need, including medical supplies, home care services, and financial assistance. By contributing to this cause, you can help ensure that elderly people in India are able to live with dignity and respect in their golden years. This project aims in supporting Animals, Animals are an important part of our lives and our world. They bring joy, love, and companionship, and they deserve our care and protection. Unfortunately, many animals in India are abandoned, abused, and neglected, and they are in desperate need of help. Impact Guru is launching a fundraising cause to support animal shelters in India, where dedicated individuals work tirelessly to provide food, shelter, and medical care to rescued animals. These shelters are often understaffed and underfunded, and they rely on donations to keep their doors open and continue their life-saving work. Your contribution will go directly towards providing food, medicine, and shelter for animals in need, as well as supporting adoption programs and spay/neuter clinics. Your donation will help to ensure that these animals have a safe and loving home, and that they receive the care they need to live healthy and happy lives. It is a heartbreaking truth that 820 million people around the world will go to bed hungry tonight, and an additional 2 billion people don't know where their next meal will come from. Hunger is a global issue that affects people of all ages, races, and genders. The causes of hunger are complex and vary from country to country, but they often include poverty, conflict, climate change, and limited access to education and resources. The effects of hunger are devastating, resulting in malnutrition, stunted growth, and even death. It is important for individuals, communities, and governments to work together to combat hunger by providing access to nutritious food, education, and resources, as well as addressing the root causes of poverty and inequality. No one should have to go to bed hungry, and it is up to all of us to take action to end world hunger.

I find it important and difficult to decide which charity to donate to, to ensure the most impact rather than how well it is marketed. Givewell.org searches for charities that save or improve lives the most per dollar. Even well-meaning charities can fail to have impact. GiveWell provides evidence-backed analysis of effectiveness. Every quarter they announce top charities based on different criteria and show how they reached the conclusion. This fund has these top charities. It is a good way to be confident that your money is making the most impact it can make.

Music is an art form which crosses the bounds of culture, language, genre, and geography, unifying people across the globe. World Music Day, originating in France and falling on June 21st each year, encourages people all over the world to enjoy the universal language of music in their own way: put on your headphones and listen to your favorite song; attend a musical event; play your favorite instrument; donate to your favorite music-based charity; there is no wrong way to celebrate! The benefits of music for the mind, body, and soul are endless, and World Music Day encourages the world to collectively indulge in one of humanity's greatest art forms. The following organizations are working to support the art of music by providing relief to struggling musicians, increasing music education funding in schools, and reaching those who are in need of the healing power of music. The Americans with Disabilities (ADA) Act, signed into law on July 26, 1990, prohibits the discrimination of Americans with disabilities. The ADA ensures protections for people with disabilities, both physical and mental, in several spheres including employment, public transportation/public spaces, communications, and government-rendered services and programming, among others. The ADA's ultimate goal is to ensure that people with disabilities are afforded equal opportunities to participate in public life with necessary accommodations and without discrimination based on their disability. The following organizations are doing the critical work to ensure that the protections afforded by the ADA are upheld, and that those who have faced unlawful discrimination based on their disability have access to support and resources. Additionally, these organizations are advocating for additional protections for those with disabilities under the ADA as needed, increasing public visibility of those with disabilities, and promoting inclusive and accessible spaces. Your donation to this Fund, in honor of the ADA's signing anniversary, will help each of these organizations work towards their shared mission of creating equitable, accessible, and welcoming communities for all.

Our team distributed hundreds of milk formula and diaspers to families in dire need at the Jenin Refugee Camp, with their situation worsened by the Gaza war . Thanks to generous global donations , we swiftly provided crucial relief to these families facing immense challenges.

Poaching has become a significant issue in recent years and is threatening the existence of many species, including the rhinoceros. The world has lost over 60 % of its rhino population to poaching in the last seven years. The rhino horn is in high demand in many countries and is believed to have medicinal properties. This demand has led to a considerable increase in rhinos being killed illegally. This fund is dedicated to fighting poaching and saving the rhino from extinction. Your donation supports anti-poaching efforts and conservation programs for rhinos. The program includes habitat protection, public awareness campaigns, and deploying highly trained anti-poaching units. By raising awareness and providing the necessary resources, it is possible to reduce the number of rhinos being killed and ensure the survival of this magnificent species for future generations.

Breast Cancer Fund raises awareness of the preventable risk factors for breast cancer. We provide practical information to help lower people’s risk. We campaign for policy change to support prevention and fund scientific research to help improve our understanding of how to stop the disease. Your donation goes directly towards helping women in need of financial support. Our “Gaza Relief and Recovery “campaign aims to address urgent humanitarian needs and support long-term recovery efforts in Gaza . The funds raised will primarily focus on immediate relief , including providing essential medical supplies, food , medical treatment, clean water, and others necessities for families affected by the conflict. Additionally, our campaign will support rebuilding healthcare facilities and providing long-term support through impactful programs and project to support the needs of children and the health sector in Gaza . It will also allocate ressources toward trauma counseling mental health support and the others initiatives for children affected by the conflict, aiming to foster healing and resilience within the community

Due to worst drought situation in Northern Kenya just after COVID epidemic most families have lost their livestock and source of livelihood. Most children are not going to school because of school fees and Can hardly have one meal a day.

He was happy, healthy, strong, and mischievous. He loved chasing his older brothers and sneaking treats to the family dog. Shortly after his first birthday he started getting sick. There was no rhyme or reason for it. He got sick back-to-back and began to struggle. When cancer was the leading prognosis, his doctors pushed for Axel to get more lab work ASAP. That push led him to the emergency room, which saved his life. It was ultimately discovered that he did not have cancer but instead was in full heart failure. After every level of testing, the cause is still unknown. He was fading fast and his best hope was being transported to Stanford Children’s Hospital. Axel held on long enough to be placed from the gurney to his hospital bed where his vitals plummeted. Emergency procedures were used to save his life that night. His parents could only watch in horror as the medical teams tried their best. His parents remember optimistically, yet naively, asking, “there’s still a chance his heart will just heal itself, right?” There was a pause and a very soft, but firm response. “Axel is critically ill. A part of his heart has died. He needs a transplant. Axel needs a new heart.” Since then, teams of doctors and machines have been used to keep him going. Axel is recovering on a Ventricular Assist Device (VAD). He is hooked up to machines that keep him alive and he cannot leave the hospital until after transplant. Axel's parents take turns being with him at the hospital and being home with his brothers. The need to be present with Axel has caused the family to be reduced to one income. For Axel and his family, this is a difficult marathon. With medical bills and expenses beginning to pile on, the family is seeking help from COTA to keep their family strong and help relieve some of the financial stress as they move through this journey together. The Children's Organ Transplant Association (COTA) helps children and young adults who need a life-saving transplant by providing fundraising assistance and family support. COTA is the nation’s only fundraising organization solely dedicated to raising life-saving dollars in honor of transplant-needy children and young adults. 100% of each contribution made to COTA in honor of our patients helps meet transplant-related expenses. COTA’s services are free to our families, and gifts to COTA are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.

June is Pride Month. Pride is celebrated annually in June to honor the 1969 Stonewall riots, and works to achieve equal justice and equal opportunity for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) Americans. This Pride Fund supports organizations that promote the safety and advance the wellbeing of the LGBTQ+ community through advocacy, direct services, mental and physical health accessibility, education, and public policy changes. Through a single donation to this Fund, you can support multiple organizations' initiatives working to ensure acceptance, equity, and justice for all.

Helen Keller was an American humanitarian, author, and activist who is widely known for her wide array of accomplishments despite contracting an illness at 19 months old which ultimately left her both deaf and blind. Keller went on to pursue a successful career as a writer and lecturer as well as within the sociopolitical sphere, advocating for women's suffrage and world peace while campaigning on behalf of those living with disabilities. Keller worked for the American Foundation for the Blind and co-founded the American Civil Liberties Union, and her legacy lives on through the work of the organizations included in this Fund. In celebration of Keller's birthday on June 27th, Bright Funds created the Helen Keller Birthday Fund. This Fund is spotlighting organizations who are doing the critical work of advocating for people with disabilities through education, policy, research and direct services. The organizations in this Fund have a collective goal of ensuring that people with disabilities have access to the resources and supports they need in order to succeed within communities that are equitable and accessible for all.

Kinship has been mentoring students at Alliance High School, an alternative school in Portland, on the Design Thinking process. The students and staff at this school do not have access to trusted, safe, lead-free drinking water and have identified this as the problem they want to solve through Design Thinking. Kinship would like to support their fundraising efforts to find solutions to this problem and deliver safe drinking water, a basic human right, to this community.
