The Rose

The Rose’s mission is saving lives through quality breast health services, advocacy, and access to care for all. The Rose has been dedicated to serving the communities of Southeast Texas with breast care services since 1986. Witnessing the inequities in breast care and outcomes, the founders Dorothy Gibbons and Dixie Melillo, MD, set out to right a wrong they experienced daily in their professional careers. The result was The Rose – an organization dedicated to saving lives from breast cancer through advocacy, comprehensive breast care services, and access to care for all. Designated by the American College of Radiology as an ACR Designated Comprehensive Breast Imaging Center, the organization serves approximately 41,000 patients annually, 18%-20% uninsured, with breast care services.
