Hispanic Federation Inc
The Hispanic Federation has a team on the ground — and a vast network of nonprofits it’s actively supporting and working with in Puerto Rico — that is ready to provide emergency relief and long-term support to those affected by the quake and the ensuing aftershocks. Thousands of solar lamps are being made available for distribution, as well as emergency funds for local health and human service providers working in affected communities. Furthermore, through our partnership with the University of Puerto Rico, our mental health initiative is already providing mental health services across the island focused on trauma therapy after natural disasters.
All Hands and Hearts
When a natural disaster strikes, we arrive early and stay late to address the immediate and long-term needs of affected-communities. We work alongside the local residents and deploy our unique volunteer model to enable direct impact — helping families and communities recover by building safe, resilient schools, homes and other community infrastructure.
We’re deploying our team to conduct assessments in and around Yabucoa, with anticipated focus directed toward the region heavily impacted by the earthquake (including Ponce, Guanica, Guayanilla and Yauco).
Grassroots International Inc
Our mission is to connect people in the US with global movements that defend land, territory, water, food, seeds, and the earth. Together, we address the root causes of injustice and oppression, and build alternatives that nurture human rights, ecological justice, and liberation. We do this through grantmaking, social action, and philanthropic leadership.
